During the winter, a large part of the population of Andorra enjoys the snow by skiing, snowshoeing, hiking or playing with the little ones in the house.
And we must keep in mind that whether we ski or do any sport in the snow , it is quite likely that we will suffer an accident as in any risky sport .
But… How can we avoid it?
- Whenever we do any sport it is important to be physically prepared.
- If you are going to ski or ski in any of its varieties, you should know your level and know which ski slopes you can go to (it is important to always carry a map of the ski resort).
- Always stay alert even if you are an expert. If possible, always carry your mobile phone with you.
- Respect other athletes and the different indications that we can find in the ski resorts or in the mountains in general.
And what should we do if we have an accident at a ski resort ?
- The first thing we should do is check if we can move, and little by little we will begin to move all the joints of the body.
- If we cannot move, we must signal our position by crossing our poles, skis or by placing the snowboard in the snow. This will make us more visible to other skiers and prevent multiple accidents.
- If we can move, it would be best to move to the side of the ski slope.
- Once we have moved or marked our position, we will have to notify the skiers accompanying us, the emergency services or any other skier who will surely be happy to help us.
In any case, and to avoid scares, at ASSAP Seguros we recommend our Accident Insurance :
- If you need a prosthesis as a result of the accident, we will cover the cost.
- If you suffer a temporary absence , we cover the financial costs.
- We will cover your medical and financial expenses if you become disabled.
