Mother’s Day

This Sunday, the 3rd , leaving aside that it is a commercial day, and that we will have to celebrate it in confinement , it is nice to be able to congratulate, both officially and unofficially, since there are fathers, grandmothers, aunts who are also mothers , in all of them we recognize their dedication, unconditional love, loving us well and beautifully, helping us, protecting us, educating us… etc.

But do you know the origin of this day ?

This holiday dates back to the 17th century in England, where poverty led people to work in large houses or palaces as servants. Only one Sunday a year, called ” Mother’s Sunday “, gave workers the day off to visit their mothers .

Many years later, specifically in 1914, it was proclaimed a national holiday and the first official celebration was on May 10, a day that was proclaimed by other countries as Mother ‘s Day.

And as it could not be otherwise, this holiday also has curious facts, such as:

  • Mother’s Day , worldwide, accounts for 4% of all flowers sold throughout the year.
