In Andorra there is a lot of enthusiasm for motorbikes, but although many people use them all year round, there are others who prefer to put them away when the rain, snow and winter arrive, and take them out again when the good weather arrives.
And you’re probably wondering what the best way to leave your bike parked for a long period of time is to ensure that it suffers the least possible damage.
Don’t worry… At ASSAP Seguros we give you 5 tips for storing your motorcycle during the winter:
1. Disconnect the battery
Almost no one thinks about it, but it is very important to disconnect the motorcycle battery and leave it connected to a charger so that it supplies small doses of charge and is always active, if we want to leave it stored for a long period of time.
The reason? By not moving for so long, the battery loses properties and we will have to change it sooner.
2. Over-inflating your tires
We should leave the tires one kilo above normal pressure as this will prevent the casing from deforming and, if there is a leak, prevent them from deflating completely.
3. Cover the motorcycle with a cover
It is essential to have a cover that protects the entire motorcycle from pollution and humidity if we want to store it during the winter (and at the same time, that helps us “hide” it from sight and avoid temptations…)
4. A quiet place to store the motorcycle
We must find a dry and covered place (not outdoors) to protect the motorcycle from the weather.
If we keep the motorcycle in a safe and secure place, we will be more relaxed.
5. Leave the tank full of gasoline
Last but not least! We must try to leave the tank full of gasoline and not air, since if the tank is metal it could rust.
If you follow all the advice, you will have your bike ready in the best conditions for a spring/summer full of curves and kilometres.
And if you have a high-end motorcycle and want to be 100% calm, take a look at our motorcycle insurance. Specially made for you!
